MOTs & Car Servicing North Devon

From intermediate to major services and scheduled maintenance such as timing belts/fluid changes

All our branches are staffed and fully equipped to provide the very best customer experience and offer our full range of motor services.

Regular and routine maintenance is so important, for three reasons:

Firstly, it can reveal excessive wear and the need for replacement parts before they become a safety issue as well as significantly reducing the risk of breakdowns. It will check and alert you of any wear on items with a finite life such as tyres, brake & suspension components.

Secondly, an engine running at its best performance , and friction surfaces such as drive shafts / wheel bearings etc. running at optimum effectiveness will often give increased fuel efficiency and  help to run your vehicle more efficiently.

Thirdly, it helps to maintain your vehicle’s resale value. A new prospective owner will very often wish to see evidence that the vehicle has been maintained to a reasonable standard.

You might also consider a fourth but equally important aspect to adhering to a good maintenance schedule. If you’re unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, your vehicles state of repair,( or lack of it), could leave you vulnerable to further complications. We consider that routine Servicing is not an ‘optional extra’ but that it is an essential part of car ownership.

We can tailor any service request to meet your requirements but generally offer two service types

We will provide an estimate and discuss any other necessary work identified whilst carrying out the service such as timing belt renewal, fluid flush/refill, fuel filter renewal or any worn or failed components. We will only proceed with additional work once we have your authority to do so.

The cost of service parts and oils vary so greatly now that we are no longer able to offer a ‘one price fits all’ service, however the labour time required is generally very similar so on our Price Guide, you will find a generic service cost , these will all be plus the cost of service parts and oil. We can happily estimate a total price on application

A Car Care Service Centre Intermediate service

This is mostly recommended for high mileage drivers who may go well beyond the usual annual service interval mileage. It’s a kind of ‘top-up’ service to keep your vehicle suitably maintained and safe  until the regular annual service. It is sometimes also employed for particularly low mileage users when you may wish to alternate  an intermediate and a full service bi annually.

At an intermediate service we will raise your vehicle on a ramp , replace your engine oil and oil filter, check and top up fluid levels, and will externally inspect the visible braking components, tyres , suspension and general integrity of the vehicle. As with all of our services any defects will be noted, you will be contacted and any necessary work will be agreed with you prior to  carrying out the repairs.

A Car Care Service Centre Major/Annual service

This is the real backbone of any car servicing schedule. For an annual service we will change the serviceable items and give your vehicle a thorough check for any items that may have worn.

The list below gives a basic idea of what we do but a full schedule is available upon request (the full schedule is simply too extensive to display here)

  • Replace engine oil and filter
  • Replace air filter
  • Replace Spark plugs (unless long life)
  • Check and top up all fluids as required, e.g. coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, gearbox/transmission oil, windscreen washers
  • Remove road wheels, clean, check and adjust the brakes (this is in fact done by very few garages during a routine service)
  • Check for leaks such as oil / coolant / brake fluid / visible leaks from air conditioning
  • Check auxiliary belts and tensioners
  • Check battery condition and grease terminals
  • Check the condition of the exhaust system, suspension, brakes and tyres.

A Guarantee covers defects in manufacture or faulty workmanship

A Guarantee covers defects in manufacture or faulty workmanship. It is our policy that vehicles must be returned to us for any guarantee work to be carried where reasonable to do so. If this is not practical and the vehicle is out of the area then we must be informed before any work is carried out, so as we can liaise with the repairer, but in all cases we must be given the opportunity of recovering the vehicle to our own premises in the first instance (where this is practical). Some products are supplied with a national coverage. In these cases please call us on (01271) 379674 and we will advise you where to take your vehicle in your area.

Should the vehicle be used for motor sports or for any other reason than the purpose for which it was manufactured, then this guarantee will be deemed null and void. Should any third party carry out work on or to any of the parts that we have replaced, this guarantee will be deemed null and void.

As a Company, we pride ourselves in the quality of the parts we supply and fit and also the high standard of our workmanship. However, should you have any reason to believe that you need to make a claim against this guarantee please telephone (01271) 379674 or call in to any of our branches at you convenience.
